What are your Pergolas made of?
Our Pergolas feature powder-coated, extruded aluminum components, ensuring the durability of our louvered roof. From the high-quality drive system to the screws that hold everything in place, we prioritize top-tier materials and craftsmanship for lasting performance.
Does Zen Structures make custom Pergolas or offer custom sizing?
Unfortunately, none of our models can be customized, as they are all pre-designed and packaged in advance. Please reach out to our customer service team if you have any questions or concerns regarding sizing.
Is a permit required/ will my city permit the installation of a Zen Structures product?
Based on our experience, most cities are open to approving the installation of our products, provided the necessary documentation is submitted beforehand. We are happy to assist you with checking for required permits, and with your application or review process.
For large pergola installations, a site plan, elevations, footing drawings, snow and wind ratings and the required fees are typically sufficient to obtain a permit from your local office.

Is my Pergola waterproof, can I add a roof?
Our louvered pergolas are designed to adjust with the push of a button, giving you control over the amount of sun and shade you receive. The louvres open, allowing wind, snow, and other weather elements to pass through safely when needed, when closed, the integrated gutter system ensures you stay dry, offering protection from the rain.
We advise against adding a roof or any materials to enclose your pergola, as this can cause wind-lift, damage the structure, and increase stress and weight from accumulated snow.
Please note that installing a roof or any other additional materials on your pergola, will void the product warranty.
